‘Oud' was not a known musical instrument in the ancient culture of Sumer . The emergence of such an instrument in fact is attributed to the Accad period. The instrument that was used to be played by King Shwaji, (of the Third Ore dynasty), was a new one that was named Goodi, a term that is possibly derived from Arabic.
